Support your local game store!

If there is a game store near you, we encourage you to go there and buy your materials from them. Right now. Saving a couple bucks by buying your stuff from The Hero Factory (or another internet retailer) is not worth driving your local game store out of business.

Game stores do more than just sell you gaming materials:

1. They provide the gaming community with tournaments and demos. Getting people excited about a game benefits everyone in the loop -- the store, their customers, the store's distributors, and the game manufacturers. Remember that the building landlord has bills and a family too. Don't forget that sales tax from local businesses is what pays for local schools, firefighters, and other social services.
2. Game stores provide dream jobs for gaming geeks.
3. A good game store will present gaming in a positive light to the community, and serve as a way to bring new gamers into the fold. A non-gamer who has a good experience in a game store may not be so afraid of "those D+D weirdoes" next time.
4. Store employees can give you advice and reviews on new releases, and they can let you know what's coming down the road. You can also find out what other customers think about a new game.
5. You just might find your favorite game ever while browsing the isles of the game store. And you didn't even know it existed!
6. Game stores offer gamers a place to meet and play together. Social networking is something that can be hard to find with the isolation created by playing nothing but video games. Face-to-face gaming is a blast. Taunting your friends, pleading with your GM, and having a beer with your buddies while you recount victories and follies are all way more fun than anything you will ever do on a MMORG.

If there is no game store near you, or if they don't have what you want, or if they pissed you off somehow, we will be glad to help you.
